- Tap the preview, or enter X and Y coordinates and select Pick pixel.
- Copy HEX for CSS, or RGB with alpha when the pixel is transparent.
Which color do these values describe?
The result is the browser’s decoded 8-bit sRGB pixel, after image orientation. The preview may appear different on your screen due to display settings, scaling or color management. Values do not promise the original file’s encoded channels, print ICC, HDR or CMYK fidelity. Browser color conversion and privacy protection can affect results.
How does PNG transparency work?
An opaque red pixel is #FF0000. A half-transparent red may be #FF000080, with alpha 128 of 255. Transparent pixels retain alpha rather than being mixed with a white background. Fully transparent pixels display #00000000 because no visible color can be recovered. Partially transparent RGB channels can round during browser decoding and canvas sampling. The checkerboard and selection marker are display aids and are never sampled.
What are the limits?
One static image up to 10,000,000 bytes (10 MB), 12,000,000 pixels and 8192 pixels per side. GIF, animated PNG/WebP, SVG, HEIC, PDF and remote URLs are not supported. File contents are checked before decoding. Reading and decoding stop after 30 seconds. The full image is sampled at its original pixel dimensions; fitting the preview does not resize the sampling image.
Are images or colors sent anywhere?
No. Images, filenames, coordinates and colors stay in memory in this page. Replacing, clearing or leaving releases the image and result. Optional feedback, anonymous action analytics and support are separate; see Privacy.
